the original nachos
I am wondering, I remember when I was going to washington Int. I used to get the nachos and then it was gone.
It had a ono spicy cheese, tomatoes and a taco meat I think was a little spicy? I loved that. Then I went to kalaheo in kailua and it was gone. I was bummed in kailua cause no mo' nachos!!! Can I get the recipe for the meat that was used ( before chili was used) and the cheese(liquid cheese that was spicy hot and ONO with the tomatoes) that was used since I am not home in HI. anymore. I want to make it one day cause I am craving it like CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was served in the 1980's? so ONO broke da' mouth!!! No one has that any where else in HI or in the mainland. I am dying for it even if that was 30 years ago, So good that I can't forget it!! I think it was taken off the menu in the late 80" maybe early 90's? NEED IT SOOO BAD!!!!!!!!!! PLEASEEEEEE!! make a local girl in WA. state happy!! No saimin here either!!UGH!!!! ![]()

Good morning, Lelah35!
Yes, we did carry nachos at our Zippy's locations in the 80s, and it was discontinued at around the same time when Zippy's discontinued its tacos. Although we can't release our recipe for the taco meat, I would recommend you try some of the taco seasonings at the grocery store, like Lawry's. The tortillas were cut and freshly fried, and you may be able to get a spicy cheese sauce similar to what we used at the grocery store as well. Add freshly diced tomatoes, and you should have something similar to what you had from our Zippy's locations in the 80's. Good luck! Thank you for your time, Jay |
