I also miss the beef cutlet. I'm not partial to panko breading, I actually prefer the cutlet style crust on both beef and chicken cutlet. I know it's a legendary local favorite, but unless you go to a good Japanese restaurant that serves tonkatsu (pork cutlet with panko breading) and they know how to fry it right at the correct temperature, the panko breading holds too much oil in my opinion and gives you heartburn.

Lamb curry

I love your lamb curry. But it's been a while since I've seen it on your menu. I assume it's just a matter of bad timing that I go to Zips on days that it's not a special. But if it's been dropped, I hope you bring it back.

Aloha nextstop!

It's good to hear that you enjoy the Lamb Curry! You are correct; our Lamb Curry is still available but only as a Daily Special. It's available on the "Menu D" days. Please click on the link below to see the dates that it is available.

Aloha ChiliFrankPlate,

I prefer the breading on our beef cutlet as well!

Here's a link to our rotating specials. http://www.zippys.com/pdfs/takeoutmenuoahu.pdf

The Beef Cutlet is available on "Menu B" days, and Chicken Cutlet are available on "Menu G" days. For those of you that crave our pork cutlet, it is available on "Menu F" days. We monitor the popularity & sales of our menu items, so if any item that is available only as a "special" becomes popular enough, we may make it a "regular" menu item!

We need healthy food!

First, thanks for making the menu more healthy in the past years with the Boca burger and the tofu burger for example. We liked the Shintani menu but think people didn't know about it. It was kind of a hidden secret, and that's why it wasn't popular. But we are glad we do have a few items to choose from.

In our family we have two people who are diabetic, three with high blood pressure/high cholesterol, of which one had a stroke and one had a heart attack, and two more who are trying to stay healthy. We are not unusual. We love Zippy's but with our dietary requirements we just can't eat there anymore. We are not alone! Many, many, many people love Zippy's and either come, endangering their health, or don't come, endangering Zippy's health.

We would like to see two or more pages of the menu have only no salt, no sugar and no fat foods. We also would like to see every regular and special menu item have a nutritional listing of calories, sodium, sugar, cholesterol, trans fat, protein, etc., just like on packaged food.

It is in the best interests of Zippy's to keep customers healthy, otherwise we will all die off!

Thank you

Aloha Kailua Grl,

You make very good points and we know you're not alone. Healthier menu items are always on our agenda and are major topics with our menu planning committee. Keep an eye out, because healthier options from your neighborhood Zippy's are not far away!

Mahalo for you insightful feedback!

-Nathan

How about more varied vegetarian options for those who sometimes want to eat healthy at a great place like Zippy's?
Salads, sandwiches, and burgers are not the only food that vegetarians eat.
The TLC (Tofu Lettuce Cucumber) Salad sounds very distasteful.

Aloha Hawaiigirl888,

Please see the above response to KailuaGrl's post. We will be offering more "healthier options" in the near future. In the mean time, if you haven't already tried our TLC (tofu, lettuce, cucumber) salad, please give it a chance. We've had very positive response on it since it's introduction about a year ago. I admit, I too was skeptical before trying it, but after giving it a try, it's my favorite of all the salads we offer!

I really feel for all the folks who want to eat something satisfying and healthy at Zippy's. Sometimes I don't feel like my favorite chili frank plate either, and want to eat something delicious yet healthful. Unfortunately, Zippy's doesn't have a plate lunch that fits into that category and I end up walking out because I don't want to overindulge. My suggestions for a healthy plate lunch: low sodium kalua chicken or turkey with or without cabbage, chicken long rice, and a vegetarian lau lau with vegetables like purple sweet potato. My dad had a vegetarian lau lau from Da Kitchen on Maui, but I think that was just an accident, LOL.
