Question of the Month Winner

Zippy's Benefit Chili

Dear Zippy's,

I just recently bought a Zippy's Benefit Chili on Wednesday. Two days later, it went spoil. I called Zippy's today to inform them. Someone also bought on that day. I wanted to give them a heads up. Just in case, someone else runs into this problem. I was told by a Zippy's employee that the chili is made fresh daily. You need your receipt if you want to get another one. Unfortunately, I didn't have mine. I wouldn't think it would be spoil. Good Luck!

Aloha Brice,

I'm truly sorry for your experience. You mentioned that you called store already, however, I would like to follow up with you further regarding this matter. Can you please tell me which store your purchased the chili from? Also, did you purchase the chili cold/frozen, or hot? Feel free to email me privately if you wish.

Mahalo,
Nathan

Question of the Month Winner

Dear Nathan,

I recently purchased the Benefit Chili from Zippy's Kaimuki. It was bought cold. The Benefit Chili was put into a container that it usually comes in. The person who bought her's after me, had it in a pouch. I'm not sure if it matters.

It doesn't matter if it is in a pouch or in a benefit container..........Check the date........FSI made it fresh, but you don't know how long it was refrigerator (reach-in)........It should be frozen.

Could be the process of making the chili at FSI?

Aloha Brice,

Our "original" chili is the only one that is available in the pouch; our no-bean chili and vegetarian chili comes in the usual plastic "benefit" containers. However, whether the chili you ordered came in a pouch or not, shouldn't compromise its freshness.

We usually remind our customers to refrigerate the chili as soon as possible if not consumed within a couple of hours.

We continually monitor the freshness of our chili, and we are fairly certain that this is an isolated incident.

Dear Nathan,

It's not a problem at all. It happens. We all make mistakes. I'm not bother by it. I understand. When it comes freshness, it's your number one priority. I usually put it in the fridge as soon as I get home. I won't eat it until later on. I'm glad I let you folks know ahead of time. You're now aware of it. Just in case someone else brings it up.

Does it spoil faster because there is mayonnaise in it?

Goood afternoon Kimi -

To clear up any misconceptions, Zippy's chili does not have mayonnaise as an ingredient.

As a reminder, when you pick up your benefit chili package hot, please refrigerate it after an hour if it has not been consumed.
