Bread Pudding

My brother smiled when I told him that my favorite pastry at Napoleon's is the bread pudding. He explained that left over pastries go into making bread pudding. I saw the humor in the fact that I liked eating something whose main ingredients were leftover stuff. Then my brother said that depending on what was leftover, that could affect the taste. Made sense to me, but still, I have never been disappointed by the bread pudding. Absolutely delicious to my taste buds. The only complaint I had was that the cut pieces seem to have gotten smaller over time (but then, so has ice cream cartons -- no mo half gallon anymore). Oh, another complaint is that sometimes Napoleon's does not have bread pudding. I guess if there's not enough leftover pastries, there's no bread pudding. Well, that's the price I pay for your success in selling out your custard and cherry danishes.

Aloha nextstop,

You're correct, our bread pudding isn't always available and is dependent on our overstock of pastries and danishes. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. We definitely will look into making available more frequently.

Hi Nathan. Thanks for the reply. And I appreciate your apology, but none was needed nor expected. I am a great supporter of Zippys and Napoleon, even if bread pudding and lamb curry are not available on the days I show up.

Oh, here's a story you might enjoy. I was flying to Hilo for business on an early morning flight. On my way to the airport, I stopped at the Zippys on Nimitz (near City Mill) and bought my bread pudding to eat in the terminal (airport food is soooo expensive). At the airport, I went through the TSA inspection gate and put my Napoleon package in the plastic tray to be x-rayed. I walked through the metal inspection with no problem and waited for my tray. I was surprised when the TSA agent walked up to me and asked me what was in the package. The tray then rolled out and I opened the package for him to look into. He smiled and said, "Ah, bread pudding!" He looked toward the x-ray technician and said in a loud voice, "Hey, it's Napoleon Bakery's bread pudding!" They both chuckled and let me (and the bread pudding) exit. I got the idea that they were both amused and envious.
